Stories woven in Indonesia

Our standards and AI policy

RichIndonesia is journalism first. These are the rules every story follows, on the website and on social media.

Sourcing and attribution

  • Every fact comes from a named source. When we build on another outlet's reporting, we say so in the story and link to it.
  • Quotes keep the speaker's name and role. Quotes we translate from Indonesian are marked as translated.
  • Numbers keep their caveats. If a figure is an estimate or comes from one person, the story says so.
  • We do not publish rumours, and we do not invent people, quotes or numbers.

How we use AI

We use AI tools to help draft stories, scripts and illustrations from the reporting we have. AI never decides what is true:

  • An independent check compares every sentence with the source material and flags anything unsupported.
  • A named editor reviews and approves each story before it goes out. The editor's name appears on the story.
  • The AI voice in our videos is synthetic, and our videos and posts say so.

Images

When we have real photographs we use them, with credit. When we do not, we use illustrations that are clearly labelled "Illustration". Illustrations never show a real person's likeness or an event that did not happen.

Corrections

When we get something wrong we fix it quickly and add a note at the end of the story explaining what changed. Every correction is also listed on our corrections page.

Independence

Stories about a company or programme are not paid for. Any sponsored content will be clearly labelled as sponsored and kept apart from news.
